Butterfly Effect Counselling

My name is Ellen.  I am a person-centred counsellor with Butterfly Effect Counselling.  I work in private practice and I offer online and telephone counselling.  I have worked with clients from age 18 up to beyond retirement that come from a range of different backgrounds.  I am committed to offering you a service which is welcoming to all backgrounds in a non-judgemental and supportive manner.

I work within the BACP ‘Ethical Framework for Counsellors’, and also the BACP Guidelines for Online Counselling and Psychotherapy. Information relating to both of these documents can be found at: www.bacp.co.uk.

Online Counselling

Online counselling is the same as face to face counselling except it is facilitated through a web based video tool (Zoom).

Yes.  Zoom itself is end to end encrypted and I ensure that no-one can hear what you say as I will be wearing a headset, I will also be seated in a private room where no-one can hear what I am saying to you.  It is advisable for you to ensure that no-one can hear what we say, you don’t have to wear a headset, but it is best to be in a private space when we meet.  This can be anywhere of your choice, where you will feel comfortable to be able to speak freely.

The benefit of online counselling is that you can be anywhere you choose when you have your sessions.  You can be in the comfort of your own home, in your car or in a park, the choice is yours.  Online counselling gives you the opportunity to access counselling at a time and in a place that is convenient to you.

£45 per counselling session for over 18’s

£40 per counselling session for students and OAPs

We will have an initial free 15-minute (or so) telephone (or on Zoom if you prefer) assessment.  Here you will have the opportunity to ask me any questions you may have.  We will discuss what has brought you to seek counselling and I will need to ask you a few questions. It is also an opportunity for you to decide if I am the right counsellor for you.  During this contact, I will also talk to you about the admin side of things and if you would like to go ahead with counselling with me, then we will book your first session.

If you would like to make an appointment, please feel free to email me at: ellen@butterfly-effect.me.uk or you can use the contact form on the website.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

The sessions are 50 minutes in length.

Walk and Talk Counselling

Walk and Talk counselling is literally walking and talking, out in the open.

As I am unable to guarantee confidentiality, I do make every effort to take in our surroundings during our time together.  You will need to be aware of the surroundings as I am unable to prevent others from potentially hearing what is being said.

If you like being outdoors or want to get out doors in the open then have a think about Walk and Talk counselling.  There is something about being out in the open and the fresh air, regardless of the weather, to have that feeling of openness and space, that can’t be replicated in a counselling room or on the phone.

I offer walk and talk counselling sessions at three different locations; Trentham Gardens – ST4 8NT (please note that there is an entrance charge to the gardens), Longton Park – ST3 4AT or Silverdale Country Park – ST7 8BS.  The choice of where you would like your walk and talk counselling sessions is yours.
